A Little Bit About Bees

Honey bees are important because they pollinate flowers. Bees transfer pollen from one flower to another and this helps plants grow seeds and fruits.

Honey bees live in a hive and are part of a community called a colony.

A colony has one queen bee who lays all the eggs.

Worker bees are all female. They are the most active and the ones you see outside the hive.

Drones are the male bees. Their only purpose is to fertilize the queen's eggs. Drones only live in the hive during the spring and early summer and then they are kicked out of the hive.
