You have entered the home of the firefly. Here you will learn a little about the life cycle of a firefly.
Female fireflies lay eggs their eggs in the ground in the late summer or early fall.
About four weeks later, the firefly larvae hatch from the eggs. They live underground for one or two years eating snails, slugs, and worms.
Fireflies enter the pupal stage in the summer and emerge about ten days later.
As an adult, the firefly only lives for about two months. They live long enough to mate and lay eggs.
